The Hale & Hearty 7K is being managed by 1st Place Sports, Jacksonville’s Running Headquarters.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the race and registration:

Race Timing
How do you time the races?

We time our races using ChampionChip technology. A ChampionChip is a miniature transponder in a specially designed plastic housing. This device contains a chip in combination with an energizing coil. These elements are encased in a waterproof glass capsule, meaning the ChampionChip can be used under all conditions (wet, dry, hot and cold). ChampionChip timing allows for fast and accurate results!

How do I get my timing chip and what do I do with it?

For most of our races, you will pick up your chip on race day at the registration area. For some of the larger races we put on, you may receive the chip when you pick up your race packet. The chip must be worn on your shoe or ankle during a race to ensure the timing mats will read the chip. You must cross the timing mats at the start and finish to be included in the results.

Can I wear my own personal ChampionChip at your races?

If you have your own personal ChampionChip, you can enter your chip number on the race entry form, and deduct $2.00 from the entry fee. You CANNOT use your personal chip if you sign up on Raceday. Before Raceday, we feed our chips into our registration system. When you sign up on raceday, whatever Bib number you receive already has one of our Chips assigned to it. This is why you HAVE to wear the chip we give you!

What happens if I lose the Chip?

Your race entry fee covers the cost of the chip rental. At the finish line, we have bins set up for Chip return. If you lose your chip, it is a $30.00 replacement fee. Make sure your chip is securely fastened to your shoe!

Packet Pickup
When can I pick up my race packet?

You can usually pick up your packet starting two days before raceday at our stores.

How do I know where to go to pick up my race packet?

On each entry form, you are supposed to mark which store you would like to go to to pick up your packet on the specified Packet Pickup Days. You can choose between any of our 4 store locations, or you can mark “Raceday,” meaning you cannot come to out stores beforehand, and will be picking up your packet at the race.

What happens if I marked a store to pick up my packet, but I couldn’t make it?

All race packets that do not get picked up at our stores get taken down to the race site for race day pickup/registration.
